I love Mondays because that means work gets done- on the kitchen and now the house. As I was heading to work this morning, I get a gift at the door. The floor men were here to start sanding the floors. Last night H. and I emptied out 4 rooms and 2 closets to get ready for today. I won’t show you where we put everything. I’m embarrassed the house looks like a disaster. But we did manage to keep everything in the house and not have to rent out a POD as I thought we may have had to.
Getting to the good stuff. We have red oak floors which are original to the house, circa 1950’s. They were in desperate need of re-touching and freshening. Lucky for us, the floors were in good condition so other than cosmetic fixing up and of course a complete re-sanding and staining, the floors will be more our style.
The floor stain we selected is a custom stain. In other words, it was darn hard to figure out the right shade of grey and black. After 7 different versions, eight parts white to 1 part black is what we came up with. And so far the sample looks great. The nerves will set in the next couple of days when a lot more surface area is covered.
PS- we also have light in the kitchen now!!!!!
And just to throw in a “ha ha he he, ” here’s Lucy poking her head through a dog made hole in the plastic. Don’t be fooled by the smiley face. She was not happy she was on one side and we were on the other.
