Floors

Today is a long one…. I had to skip yesterday due to traveling commitments, not that it mattered a whole lot since yet again we experienced another hiccup. Trust me, we are doing a kitchen renovation even though it feels like I am ruminating more about the problems rather than the progress. I have hope…  I have hope….

The hiccup: No cabinets.

Since we were able to texture and paint the walls all in one shot, the contractor boasted he could get the cabinets installed Wednesday.  Yeah, well, Wednesday morning came, the cabinet installer came, but no cabinets came. Seems like no one told the installer the cabinets were not on site. Even better the cabinet guys couldn’t get the cabinets to us until Friday which means installation happens Monday. Yep.

The solution: Start the floors for the kitchen and pantry.

We have 2 1/4 inch hardwoods in the front part of the house. We also have brick in the entry way and dining room and terrazzo in the sunroom. So we made the decision not to add another material and just bring in the wood into the kitchen (we had tile before.) The guys have poured the tar (what a stink) the sub floor and hopefully tomorrow the hardwoods will go in.

We won’t stain the floors until the kitchen is done because the whole front part of the house is going to be re-sanded and stained. But at least I will have floors.
